ALLOTMENT LOCATIONS : DAGLEY LANE, SHALFORD
Dagley Lane, Shalford
Size: 30 x plots assorted sizes from 5 to 10 rods
This is one of the smaller garden/allotment sites, situated behind the church in Shalford; adjacent to a railway line with a welcoming quirky entrance; orchard and eco drop-box toilet. It’s tucked away on a steep slope with trees all around, a wildlife pond, stumpery and social seating area. The tenants here fence their individual plots to deter rabbits and grow some amazing asparagus, many other vegetables, fruits and community flower beds. The lower levels are sandy soil and the upper level has clay loam which is moisture retentive thus avoiding the need for excessive watering. You’ll also gain a green-fingered friend who can help you through your first year.
Note: Waiting list is minimal but plots rarely change hands.
