APPLY TO RENT AN ALLOTMENT
If you would like to rent an allotment please complete the form below. Your application will be acknowledged by email. Unfortunately there are waiting lists for all sites. These vary but the lists for larger sites move more quickly. The current situation (June 2020) is that GAS has recently had a significant increase in applications and on some sites the waiting list may be long.
When you reach the top of the list you will receive an offer by email. You will be given the contact details of the warden of your chosen site.
You will need to contact the warden within the time limit stated to arrange a viewing. Once you have agreed with the warden to accept a plot you will be asked to confirm your name, site and plot number chosen by email within 48 hours of your acceptance. You should also confirm if you wish to be the sole or joint tenant.
Shortly afterward you will receive an agreement and invoices in the post for rental, and gate key deposit if applicable. The agreement is a legal document confirming your rights and responsibilities as a tenant and we must receive one copy of this back to the society and payment of the invoices within 15 days or the offer of the plot could be withdrawn. Payment details and how to pay are on the invoice that will be sent to you.
Before you apply, we strongly suggest that you read the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ page. Please also note:

- The society only accepts applications from residents of Guildford Borough. i.e. only if the Council Tax for the property you live in is paid to Guildford Borough Council.
- Allotments may be held as a sole, or joint, tenancy. A joint tenancy can only be requested at the start of the tenancy arrangement. Joint tenants do not have to be related, or live at the same address, but both must be residents of Guildford Borough. If one tenant dies, or gives up their tenancy, the other tenant is able to continue the tenancy. Joint tenants are jointly responsible for fees.
- Individual site wardens cannot allocate plots outside of the waiting list, so please do not contact them directly.
- If your contact details change after you apply, it’s your responsibility to let the society know or you will lose your place on the waiting list. We have limited resources to track you down if you change your e mail address or move house. Please also let us know if you change your mind and no longer wish to have an allotment, or if you move away from Guildford.
